The project “Borders without Borders” builds bridges between young people from Bulgaria and North Macedonia by fostering cultural exchange, tolerance, social inclusion, and the development of new skills through sport, culture, and creativity.

Main Objectives

  • To promote intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding.
  • To develop key skills and competences through non-formal education.
  • To encourage active citizenship and volunteering.
  • To establish a sustainable network of partners for future initiatives.

Activities
Youth Exchange “Borders without Borders”

  • Thematic workshops: intercultural dialogue, sport, creativity, leadership.
  • Cultural programme: visits to sites of cultural heritage.
  • Group discussions and interactive games for the exchange of ideas and experiences.

Venue: Plovdiv, Bulgaria
Period: 02 – 10 April 2025
Participants: 34 young people + 2 youth leaders + 2 facilitators (a total of 38 participants)

Participant profile:

  • Young people aged 16–30 from Bulgaria and North Macedonia.
  • Representatives of diverse social and cultural backgrounds, including young people with fewer opportunities.
  • Active and motivated youth interested in sport, culture, volunteering, and European values.
  • Youth leaders and facilitators with experience in organising and leading non-formal educational activities.

Expected Results

  • Strengthened ties between youth organisations from Bulgaria and North Macedonia.
  • Improved skills in intercultural communication, leadership, and teamwork.
  • Increased motivation among young people to participate actively in civic life.
  • Visible and sustainable results through online and offline dissemination.

 

Project Significance

“Borders without Borders” demonstrates how young people can reimagine borders – not as barriers, but as opportunities for encounters, learning, and creating a future without divisions. The project is part of the strategic efforts of Sports Europe to combine sport, culture, and education in the name of a more open and cohesive society.
